Pace Prints is pleased to announce the release of our first edition with British artist Paul Morrison. The print, Rhexia is now available.
Morrison's iconic take on landscape, portraiture and botanical illustration employs appropriation, digital modification and collage to create transhistorical mashups. Ideas about the cultural production of landscape and grafting images of 'natural environments' into urban settings are abiding concerns of the artist, who ultimately seeks to recontextualise the viewer's perception of nature.
Paul Morrison
Born 1966, Liverpool. Lives and works in Sheffield and London.
Paul Morrison appropriates images from many sources and re-situates them in vast trans-historical landscapes. He uses the repetition of certain motifs, including flowers, to focus on their symbolic associations.
In 2002 he was included in the Jerwood Painting Prize, and he has also exhibited at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles in 2000 and at the Royal Academy in London in 2002. Morrison is represented in many important public collections worldwide, including the MoMA, The Fogg Art Museum at Harvard University, The Victoria & Albert Museum, London, MCA Denver, and The Städel Museum, Germany.
