Bridget Riley
Born 1931, London. Lives and works in London and Cornwall.
One of the pioneers of Op Art in the 1960s, Bridget Riley has created work that continues to reassert its importance and has had a major influence on subsequent generations of British painters. Riley's work deploys repetition of form and color to explore the effects of movement, energy and light created by their optical interaction.
In 1968, Riley represented Britain at the Venice Biennale and was awarded the prestigious premio. Her works belongs in numerous public and private collections and has been the subject of major retrospectives at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris and the National Gallery of London.
