Lucas Samaras is a photographer, sculptor, painter, draftsman, and performance artist. Working in both expressionist and surrealist traditions, Samaras believes in the object as a vehicle for self-expression. Further, much of Samaras's oeuvre is a meditation on himself - his own face and body are persistent themes in his work.
