We are pleased to announce the release of a new print edition by Gamaliel Rodríguez, titled The Town with Cloud Trees. This release is presented in partnership with the Art Museum of West Virginia University, and the proceeds will benefit the museum's programming and create opportunities for students to engage with printmaking.
Editioned during a workshop for students conducted by the artist and Pace Prints printmakers, this print combines multiple printmaking techniques including lithography, monoprinting, and gold leafing, as well as Rodríguez's own acrylic hand-embellishments to capture the artist's striking imagery.
Each print is hand-finished by the artist and unique across the edition.
Gamaliel Rodríguez's first mid-career survey, Topographies of Memory, is currently on view at the Art Museum of West Virginia University through December 15. Known for his striking use of color, monochromatic palette, and eerily familiar, yet non-descript landscapes, Rodríguez’s practice pushes the boundaries of drawing. Rodríguez has spent much of his career examining the complexities of history, both the clarity and vagueness of memory, the fragile state of infrastructures within society, and the balance between humankind and nature. His works place these elements in conversation with one another, using his distinct aesthetic to highlight their evolving power dynamic.
