Pace Prints is pleased to present a selection of prints by Dan Walsh on view from June 18 – July 19 at 536 West 22nd Street.
Working at Pace Prints between 2007-2014, Walsh realized these works using a variety of printmaking techniques, including intaglio, screen printing, woodcut, and monoprinting, to achieve his perception-shifting geometric patterns. Using a systematic, grid-based process, Walsh invokes the models of seriality, materiality, and modularity set forth by the Minimalists of the 1960s and 1970s.
While the works are defined by their color, patterns, and usage of negative space, they also incorporate organic line and irregular gesture within an otherwise formal pursuit. The artist allows ideas of Minimalism and material investigation to inspire, but not limit, his printmaking practice.
