Born in Visalia, California in 1932, Don Nice attained the University of Southern California and the Yale School of Art. He went on to teach at the MinneapolisSchool of Art, the School of Visual Arts, and became an artist-in-residence at Dartmouth College. While he started as an Abstract Expressionist, Nice quickly became a pop-realist painter, printmaker, muralist. He maintained a studio on the banks of the Hudson River, an ideal location for someone with both an artist's and a naturalist's keen eye, until his passing in 2019.
