James Siena's first exhibition of sculptures is now on view at Pace Gallery's 508 West 25th Street location. New Sculpture marks the decades-long development of three-dimensional work, and will be on view March 27–April 25, 2015.
Siena began his exploration of the third dimension in the early 1980's, when he applied the logic of his rule-based, linear abstractions into geometric toothpick sculptures. In 2013, the artist began to collaborate with the Walla Walla Foundry to translate these small forms into larger bronze and wooden works. These, along with a separate body of sculptures using bamboo skewers bound with string, will be featured in the exhibition.
