After 57 years as a leading contemporary fine art publisher and dealer, Pace Prints’ founder Richard Solomon, along with his partners, has sold and proudly transferred ownership of the company to Jacob Lewis and partners. As the newly appointed CEO and President of Pace Prints, Lewis will continue to champion and build upon the legacy that Solomon has achieved through his deep passion for art and artists.
Under Solomon’s pioneering leadership, Pace Prints has been an innovator in the field of printmaking since 1968 and has published editions by many of the most important artists of the last half century, including Jean Dubuffet, Helen Frankenthaler, George Condo, Ed Ruscha, Louise Nevelson, among countless others. Solomon will continue his association with the company as a close advisor and consultant.
Starting as an intern at Pace Prints in 2001, Lewis became President of the company in 2019 and has overseen primary and secondary market activity for artists and estates, while managing and expanding its publishing strategy to include prominent contemporary artists like Nina Chanel Abney, Leonardo Drew, Jonas Wood, and Robin F. Williams, to name a few. In 2007, Lewis was instrumental in the expansion of Pace Prints to Chelsea, and most recently spearheaded the opening of its 7500 sq. ft. gallery at 536 W. 22nd Street.
“With his dedication, experience, and unwavering commitment to artists, along with a deep historical knowledge of the business, Jacob is uniquely qualified to manage both the publishing and gallery operations of Pace Prints, while stewarding the continuation of the exceptional work that our artists and printmakers have been doing for decades.”
