Ghada Amer on The Artist Project

Pace Prints collaborator Ghada Amer was featured in season 3 of The Metropolitan Museum of Art's production The Artist Project, a web series where artists are invited to discuss a work or gallery that inspires them.

Amer discusses an Iranian panel titled Garden Gathering, a decision she made in order to explore the cultural stereotypes and classifications she is confronted with in America. Amer compares the panel to Matisse and speaks about high and low art in relation to medium, as well as the strength of the female figure in the composition.

"I don't like art that is too much intellect. I like it to speak to my heart, my vision. To be happy, to go out and to live in peace and to talk to strangers. It's about an exchange."
