New York artist and Pace Prints collaborator Mary Heilmann is set to hang one of her colorful geometries from the north wall of the new Whitney Museum. The museum commissioned the artist to decorate the museum with a 30-foot-tall pink vinyl banner, in addition to other site-specific works by Richard Artschwager and Jonathan Borofsky. Heilmann will also paint several dozen marine-plywood chairs in rainbow hues to be used for public seating on one of the museum’s four terraces. The new downtown space opens May 1, 2015.
